Stutzki Engineering, Inc. (SEI) is a small consulting firm, offering and executing engineering services for architects and building contractors, in the field of structural glass, lightweight structures and building facades.

The ideas and methods of SEI are based on a long tradition of academic research and industrial development, as represented by persons like Buckminster Fuller, Frei Otto, John Argyris, Max Mengeringhausen, Herbert Klimke, Tim Eliassen. The idea behind the company is to combine state of the art engineering and applied science with creative industrial design.

Stutzki Engineering designed and engineered several stairs with glass treads for private residences; that reflects a current trend of rising popularity and interest in glass stairs.

March 2009

The 100 11th Avenue, Condominium Tower design by Jean Nouvel to pumps up the glitz factor of Manhattans West Side. That beauty emerges from the complexity of the glass facade. The 1,650 window panes in its glass-and-steel grid are set at different angles, so that each will be imbued with subtly different qualities of light and reflection. Stutzki Engineering was contracted for the facade engineering, steel design and detailing for the MEGA-PANELS and hanging gardens.

South Campus Chiller Plant University of Chicago wins 2008 National Best of Construction & Design Award, Category: "Power/ Utility";
Stutzki Engineering, Inc. (SEI) as a subcontractor to the curtain wall contractor HARMON Inc., engineered and detailed the glass curtain walls for the South Campus Plant and for the West Campus Plant.

January 2009

Stutzki Engineering, Inc. (SEI) has been invited to work on two current projects with glazed cable nets:
  • Glazed cable net for the Eli and Edythe Broad Center, for the University of Southern California (approx. 8,000 sqft); the architect is Zimmer Gunsel Frasca
  • Glazed cable net for the new CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in Mumbai, India (approx. 200,000 sqft); the architect is Skidmore, Owings, Merrill.

Stutzki Engineering hosted a presentation by Stephen Bennison from DuPont, about super-strong glass. Architects from several Milwaukee architectural firms, and students and professors from UWM attended the lecture in the office of Stutzki Engineering.

November 2008

The Meadow Studio is finished! Our first resident, visual artist Laurel Sucsy, has settled in and all systems are functioning well. Board member Phil Rosborough has already begun landscaping and will continue to do so over the next year.
We are proud to announce that the Brooklyn Academy of Music Canopy won the "08 best of award" from Engineering News Record (ENR) in the category of "Small Project"
Stutzki Engineering is co-sponsoring scientific testing of glass elements at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

October 2008

Stutzki Engineering hosts a local art event: The BLUE ANT GALLERY opens its doors for Gallery Night (an art event in the Third Ward, four times a year) with Portrait drawings by Mary Galinowsky; see blueantgallery.com.
Stutzki Engineering installs a new Mini-Supercomputer for stress analysis of composite materials. The new computer allows parallel processing based on a 64-bit architecture, for the engineering of complex materials.

September 2008

Stutzki Engineering hires two more highly qualified structural engineers for the growing business of glass and cable structure engineering, now with a staff of five structural engineers and one architect.


August 2008

Stutzki Engineering is awarded the engineering contract for a large interior tensile structure in the Burj Dubai, U.A.E.
